Happy 250th Birthday, Marines!

The BROADSWORD Team extends a Happy 250th Birthday to all – past and present – who have earned the title “Marine!” We join in the salute to the generations of men and women who have served our nation so faithfully and who have demonstrated courage and valor in every clime and place so that our fellow citizens can pursue their dreams peacefully here at home.

We are humbled to have observed so many amazing Marines through the years write new chapters in the storied history of our Corps.  The selflessness and devotion of these men and women to the mission and their fellow Marines can only be described as eye-watering.

On this most significant anniversary, George was honored to celebrate with the staff and students of The Basic School, perhaps our Corps’ most important institution as the cradle of officership and leadership.  To observe the Birthday Ball at TBS is to stand at the intersection of tradition and promise – where the legacy of those who came before meet the limitless potential of those who will lead our Corps into the future.

That intersection stands as a testament to the timeless fundamentals of leadership that have enabled our Corps’ success throughout these two and a half centuries.  These fundamentals can be captured in one word: “character.”  As we look to the future, amidst the dizzying pace of technological change, let us always maintain a “clear sight picture” on the timeless truism that “people are paramount!”

Happy 250th and Semper Fidelis, Marines!
